Finding the right belt size can be challenging and time-consuming. When it comes to belts, the most common mistake is confusing the waist size of the pants with the belt size, which are two completely different things. As a result, keep in mind that your belt size is not the same as your pants size. Before purchasing a belt, it's critical to understand how belt sizes work, especially if you're doing it online.

What is the best method to choose a belt size based on your pant size?

To determine belt size, just "add 2" to your pant size. If your trouser waist is 34", a 36 belt size will fit properly. Most people will find that this simple strategy works best with pants worn at a typical waistline height–near the natural waistline. When purchasing a belt to go with low-rise pants or jeans, add 3 or 4 sizes to your pant size.

How are belts measured?

The length of the belt is measured from where the strap meets the buckle to the centre hole. Also , the distance between the middle hole and the other belt's end is 15cm. Our measurement does not include the buckle length.

We recommend selecting a belt that is 2 inches larger than your typical pant size to guarantee a comfortable fit. Don't measure a belt from end to end if you already have one. That way, you won't be able to get an accurate size. To determine the correct size, take a measurement from point A to point B, as indicated in the image below.

Peroz Australia Belt Size Guide

Please note - Some belts do not have pinholes. In that case:

  • The dimensions would be the same as for a pin buckle belt. The measurement will be increased by 15 cm (6 inches) from the end of the strap, which is not reflected in the measurement.
  • More information on the measures will be included in the description of those belts. As an example, consider the entire length of the strap.

How to measure your waist for belt size?

Begin by threading the tape measure through the belt loops of your pants to determine the best belt size for you. When taking the measurement, it's important to stand in a comfortable, natural position–don't push your tummy out or suck it in. The measuring tape should be snugly wrapped around the object. Round to the closest inch when measuring in inches. Select the belt size that is closest to this measurement.

Can I just measure my current belt size?

It is possible to determine your belt size by measuring your current belt, however this method is less precise than others. Belts can be crafted from a variety of different leathers, and not all belts are made from the premium genuine leather. Braided belts, as well as those belts made from low quality materials, are especially prone to stretching and deformation with time. Don't try to find your belt size by measuring a belt like this.

What else should you consider when choosing a belt size?

  • Because some pant manufacturers do not adhere to standard size, it is recommended that you measure your waist (with your pants on and through the belt loops) rather than relying on what is printed on the label of the pants or your other belts.
  • It is best to avoid measuring your waist when wearing a pant made of thick materials, as this may cause your waist to grow. This is why you should take your measures while wearing your jeans and underwear.
  • Belt measurements should never be rounded down. It's far easier to add a hole to a belt than it is to return and replace one.
  • Leather belts have a tendency to stretch over time. This is especially true for braided belts. It's vital to remember that a belt that fits uncomfortably at first will most likely fit more comfortably later.
  • If your pants/waist size is an odd number, such as 27, round it up to the nearest even number size, such as a size 30 belt instead of a 29.
  • Belts typically have five holes through which the prong can be inserted. A well-fitting belt should allow you to insert the prong into the third hole.
  • When measuring, keep in mind not to include the belt buckle. The measurement will be inaccurate and will be somewhat longer than the correct size for you.
  • The ideal belt size should only be looped one to two times. Most belt sizes in the United States or Australia are measured in inches, while some stores also provide basic XS, S, M, L, and XL sizing. In the meanwhile, European countries measure belts in centimetres.
